30 day extension of stay on Non-O

Featured Replies

My brother just got back from Hua Hin immigration and was told that they cannot extent his stay for 30 days.
He is holding a German passport and got a Non-O single entry.

Is there a new rule in place that does not allow 30 day extensions any longer?

30-day extensions never applied to non-O entries.

If he is married to a Thai, he should be able to get a 60-day extension.

There is no 30 day extension for non immigrant visas entries. Only tourist visa and visa exempt entries can be extended for 30 days.

If he needs another 30 days he can do visa run for a new 30 day visa exempt entry.

Ok, thanks. Then I told him wrong.

I did the 60 days based on marriage last year.

Can he do a visa run to Ban Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi to get a 30 day visa exempt entry?

Yes he can.

Note that visa exempt entries are limited to two per calendar year.

Yes, I am aware of this limitation.

Since he does not plan to come back this year it should not cause any trouble.

But thanks for the reminder.
