Denmark Helps Thailand Investigate Bangkok Bomb Attacks

BANGKOK: -- Along with the FBI, Danish experts are assisting Bangkok’s police in the investigation of the bomb attacks which took place on New Year’s Eve.

The Danish experts are helping Thai police forces analyze various surveillance camera tapes, confirms Anupong Paochinda from the Department of Special Investigation in Bangkok in an interview with the Thai newspaper The Nation.

The bombs went off on New Year’s Eve, killing three and leaving around 30 people injured – among these, at least eight were foreigners. The bombs exploded near a bus station and a shopping mall.

The motive for the crime has not yet been disclosed, but Thai police are still looking for the perpetrators with help from foreign experts. The FBI and the several Danish experts have been called in to see whether the video surveillance tapes could contain any pictures of the people who planted the bombs.

Yes, apparently there was some suggestion that the bombs were hidden in boxes of Edam and Goudda cheese. Denmark is sending an ISO 2007 EU-approved 21-EC protocol standards 23345, 7451, 78654, 136723 inspector to investigate. A tall blond woman by the name of Dana.

The title of the thread may lead the casual reader to believe that a ) foreign police will play a major part in bringing the investigation to a conclusion and b ) the powers that be are serious in bringing the true perpetrators to justice.

Nothing could be further from the truth. This story is a smokescreen. It serves to lend credibility to the investigation. The technical assistance is certainly a long way from the core of the case.

This sorry episode has become nothing more than a political football with all sides trying to figure out a way to gain kudos from it whilst discrediting their rivals. If there ever are convictions, which I doubt, it will not reflect the truth but rather which side has come out on top in the power tussle.
