The Israeli ambassador to Thailand on Saturday morning visited Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai to explore the possibilities of helping in reduce the water level in the cave.

Meir Slomo visited the cave, where 2 youths and their football coach have been trapped since June 23, at 9.30am.

Slomo said he had been invited by the Thai government to inspect how to provide assistance in the on-going efforts to drain floodwaters from the cave because Israel has expertise in water management and has provided support to the Thai government several times in water management.

The ambassador said he will coordinate with the Thai team there.

The ambassador held talks with Phayao Governor Narongsak Osotanakorn who has been in charge of the rescue operation since he was Chiang Rai governor. He just been transferred to Phayao but continues to head the operation.

Yes, guesthouse/bar owners are well aware of this. 1 bottle of water, 4 guys and 4 straws...

Bet you were dying to use that racist comment for another ethnic group  but haven't had an opportunity, so this thread will do.

Perhaps of few aging losers will guffaw. I  hope the chortle isn't too strong lest their dentures pop out.

Yet another vain nobody who intrudes on the cave circus for his 15 minutes of fame.

He was invited there to assess the needs Israel  might be able to help answer.

Representatives of the embassies of the USA, and UK have been to the cave too.

These officials know what their exportable technology is and can see if they have what Thailand can use.  Remember, that that the priority of all embassies today is to promote trade, so the officials are up to date with their national capabilities.

Couldn't he have come a little sooner, though? The severity of the problem has been apparent for about two weeks.

He couldn't just show up uninvited. He had to be invited, and in fairness to the Thais, they have been overwhelmed. The last thing they need are distractions.  Look at the French rescuers. They are standing by and will only come if requested to do so. it's not because the French are mean, but they need an invite.  It's like this everywhere.

I had read a number of days ago that there already was Israeli assistance there in the form of communications tech. Also keep in mind that today we are hearing rescue dives are happening now but yesterday there was still discussion about the option of them staying in place for months. So perhaps you have a valid point and perhaps you don't.

So the PhD from the Universite de Paris, was for  his dance moves? Not too many TVFers  can match his education.

He's there to make an assessment as to what technology Israel has that Thailand can use. Also, the Israeli embassy helped Maxtech Networks provide their state of the art mobile communication system to support the rescuers. Maxtech was the company which came up with mesh systems. FYI maxtech networks has successfully developed and deployed a patented innovative technology that supports mobile communication without the need for a communications infrastructure –the maxtech network mobile mesh. This is possible through a highly sophisticated algorithm that connects devices, enabling wireless peer-to-peer communication connectivity and a virtual infrastructure to relay voice and data. Mesh technology, which overcomes common challenges such as topology changes by continuously adjusting and reconstructing itself.

Perhaps you can alert the  Boycott Israel contingent of Thai Visa and they can  run up to the cave to protest the use of Israeli technology.

You don't like

I know that all the Israelis are good, but is looking to me like the good ambassador do not know what to do on Sunday, so why don't do an excursion to one of the most bigger Thai attraction? Media guaranteed!
