July 7, 20188 yr Hello, i had my passport stolen yesterday and my visa on arrival has around 23 days left, i wanted to extend for 30 days when this is about to run out but i have no passport? I am going to apply for a new uk passport but it takes around 8 weeks to be complete. Any advice?
July 8, 20188 yr The average for a normal passport application is about 2 to 3 weeks. It might take a little longer for a lost/passport application. It might be best to apply for a emergency travel to document to avoid a overstay. https://www.gov.uk/emergency-travel-document/how-to-apply Have done a police report yet? That will be needed for the application.
July 8, 20188 yr OP: which country issued your passport? And where are you located? Assuming it is a British/UK passport I can give you my experience. Around 1 month ago my UK passport stolen. I made a report to my then nearest police station. I was in Pattaya.Very important to get the police report. They will give you a photocopy from the report book. The report should detail your name and passport number in the report. It will be written in Thai. I needed to go to HM passport office in BKK to apply for the new passport. This is not the Embassy but a private firm. You will need to show a document such as your lease to prove residence. Have a color copy made of the lease and give it to them They require a certified translation into English of the police report as well as the report itself. That can be done in the same building where you apply. They send your application to the UK by courier. I was told 4-6 weeks to get the passport. As my case was urgent etc., I was able to get the new passport within a week or so. Edited July 8, 20188 yr by homeseeker
July 8, 20188 yr Had my passport stolen on Sukhumvit 13/15., Filed a police report, had a scan of my passport on my computer, otherwise I cannot prove who I was. Went directly to USA embassy and had a 6 page temporary passport. Had a brand new full passport in 10 days. <removed>. Edited July 10, 20187 yr by ubonjoe inflammatory comment removed

July 8, 20188 yr Take a copy of your passport and the visa details or if your a phone lover take a picture of it. There is no need to be carrying it about.

Dutch embassy is quite fast too, its only the Brits that takes ages as they outsourced it to an other country.

Australia also quite fast for renewal when full or when expiry date coming up and theft, damage damage etc. Lodge everything at OZ embassy in Bkk, new passport (made in Australia) delivered to your door by EMS post within 3 to 5 working days.

To be honest, I am not sure how fast the Dutch embassy is now as its been a while since i had to replace my passport this one is valid for 10 years. So its not something you do often and procedures might change.

OZ citizens start the process on line, there's a 5 minute simple interview at the OZ embassy (normal consulat hours), no appointment needed, from my understanding as a final absolute proof that the photos submitted are the actual live person. Then super quick.
July 8, 20188 yr Dutch Embassy is very fast. Last year my passport was stolen and I applied for new one on Thursday and next Monday the embassy called me to collect the new passport (not a temporary one) Edited July 8, 20188 yr by ron092007

AUD 484 (10 years/67 pages) AUD 356 (10 years/35 pages) At these extortion prices you would expect that
July 8, 20188 yr “AUD 484 (10 years/67 pages)AUD 356 (10 years/35 pages)“ I thought those are stolen passport prices, but it was good that you mentioned that just passport fees. ?? Edited July 8, 20188 yr by The Theory

I thought $100.00 for a USA passport was a lot. Australia doesn't even lube it when they shove it to you. How do they justify the high cost?

Obtain an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) for the rest of your stay in Thailand, then apply for a replacement passport once you're back in the UK. You will, however, need to report your passport as having been stolen through completing form LS01 which you should take along to the Embassy when applying for the ETD:- https://www.gov.uk/report-a-lost-or-stolen-passport/y/abroad/thailand In addition, please note that HMPO will require a certified English translation of the police report relating to your stolen passport as part of your eventual replacement passport application. This will probably be easier to obtain in Thailand rather than back in the UK. Edited July 9, 20187 yr by OJAS
