Hi all,

I am in the process of moving and working in Thailand, i am selling my house in London, and with the equity, i would like to start a company in Thailand, and also purchase a number of properties for rental investment.

What would be the best way to approach the documentation required for the 'b' visa (or is this the right way to go?)

tia for any advice you can offer.

regards

peter.

You will not be able to apply for a non-b visa until you have setup the company and have done a work permit application done.

You can setup the company on a tourist visa.

sorry i forgot to add that im from the UK and 48 ...

You’ll need to enter as a tourist and look to change to a non immigrant visa at a later stage.

You can't run your own company without Thai involvement. Please read through several older threads and on the world wide web. Purchasing properties is possible but you can't own the land. With the right Thai partner perhaps not a problem, but you wouldn't be the first who'd lost all.

I would seriously suggest you get yourself a tourist visa from UK and spend some time finding out exactly how the housing market works here.

It is nothing like the UK where value is decided by an independant authority.

Without setting up a company and employing 3 or 4 Thai workers, and that can take a while, you are limited to buying condos ( flats )

Land with a house on you cannot buy in your own name. You hand your money over to someone to buy it in their name and put all your trust in them. Owning through a company purely for ownership is a grey area with nominee shareholders and you having a controlling share can and has been done but is a let's say frowned upon as a minimum, illegal in reality way to do it.

At least you can buy a condo/condos and rent those to others.

A well used phrase in Thailand is never invest in property unless you can walk away from it and lose it without caring about it.
