Considering switching from non - immigration O visa (retirement) to work permit

Featured Replies

Hi All

ive had a Non - immigration O visa for 3 years which is current to Nov this year.

i am considering teaching English in a Phuket school initially for 1 year.

I have a couple of questions.

Will I be able to obtain a work permit whilst still on current non - immigration visa ?

If not, can I revert from work permit to non - immigration visa without leaving the country ?

Any general advice on teaching English in thai schools would be much appreciated too ?

Many thanks in advance

Are you on a non-o visa issued by a embassy or consulate or a extension of stay based upon retirement issued by immigration?

Most work permit office will not accept a application if on a visa or extension based upon retirement.

You will likely have to leave the country to get a single entry non-b visa based upon teaching. Then apply for the work permit.

If decide to go back to retirement you would not need to leave the country to apply for a extension of stay. After your extension based upon teaching is canceled you could apply for one based upon retirement.

For teaching questions it is best to post them here. Teaching in Thailand Forum

You do not have a Visa.

You have an extension of stay.
