Glue sniffers nonchalantly rob man at Chonburi ATM

 

 

A man was robbed of several thousand baht as he tried to deposit money in an ATM machine outside the Kasikorn Bank on the Chonburi by-pass yesterday.

 

Cops found Santi Surasit, 28, a local man, still clutching what remained of his bundle of cash outside the bank.

 

He told the police that as he tried to deposit around 10,000 baht in a machine a man who was the pillion passenger on a bike came up and pretended to be withdrawing money.

 

He then grabbed the notes in the deposit tray. A struggle ensued and the robber got 3,000 baht and walked off casually to his mate who was waiting on a getaway MSX bike with red plates.

 

Santi picked up a stick to whack the driver but was deterred as he thought the pillion passenger was going for a weapon secreted about his person.

 

A chase then happened around the neighborhood before he lost them.

 

He said that there was a strong smell of glue and he suspected they were glue sniffers needing money for a fix.

 

Police are studying CCTV to try and sniff out the robbers themselves.

What a marvelous statement. So, you think that people under influence of something not steal and do criminal thins when their mind is altered just because they know the price and do not need the money. What a terrible person to steal an amount of 3000 baht, when he only needed 70 baht. Maybe he was having a glue-party for his 40 friends?

Actually what I find interesting is the reference to 'glue sniffing' which is a catch-word that I haven't heard in the Thai press until recently.  Watch for an increase in that word, followed by legislation looking to restrict sales of glue, follow by the incarceration of another 20 or 30 thousand Thais.

I would venture there may be more suitable ADM drop off places. Qualify for gun permit and use it.
