July 10, 20187 yr bought ten for 10 thb a few days ago..cut into one this morning and it was dang near perfect . Was riding around today and saw a truck with the speaker...2 KG for 20 THB. Just a heads up, many use lots of them. Oh, and something learned in Arizona, besides intermediate Spanish, is you can juice them, and fill ice cube trays..then put the lime cubes in a Ziploc bag in the freezer...always good to have around.
July 10, 20187 yr when not in season fresh manao can cost as much as 20 baht a piece...my wife refused to buy them at that price... however as lime juice is a basic ingredient in the local cuisine it is good to know that a liter bottle of re constituted from concentrate lime juice is always available most places for about 22 baht...I always have some on hand to mix with my vodka and soda... my neighbors have a food preparation business and I notice that they squeeze their own as the fresh squeezed flavor is always better...they got a cute little lime squeezer nailed to a plank sorta like a big garlic press...I watched once as a toothless guy halved and squeezed the fresh limes and he was remarkably dexterous...
July 11, 20187 yr Author I actually like the bottled stuff, a little in ice water or unsweetened green tea hits the spot. Seems like quite a few Thais refuse to buy it, and use that powder instead. Something else from Arizona...tequila, Sprite, salt, ice, and a good amount of fresh lime makes a badass margarita without nasty triple sec or sour mix, which can easily ruin it, especially if going light on tequila. A decent drink to make here, all things considered...maybe add a plate of fresh wontons and you will think you are South of the Border. Edited July 11, 20187 yr by moontang
July 11, 20187 yr I just would like to mention that most of the bottled stuff has nothing to do with lime juice. It is citric acid from biotechnological process with clouding agent.

July 13, 20187 yr I picked up a basket of 14 limes for 10 baht yesterday at Klong Toey wet market. Cucumbers are also dirt cheap, I bought 6 nice ones for 10 baht, that's 1.66 baht each, not bad.

July 13, 20187 yr at the local tescos this pm limes on offer for 4 baht per...nice lookin' ones as well...plenty of red onions but no yellow ones and the ones available at the talaat weren't much to look at...nice looking potatoes at tescos but 40 baht per kilo, about the same as the talaat... gettin' late now for the pineapples so choose carefully as when ye peel and chop them sometimes they aren't nice...give them a squeeze before purchasing... the MiL tops and tails a saparot and then shaves off some skin with the cleaver and has a look at the flesh with a critical eye...it passes inspection, if it didn't she'd just chuck it, plenty more where that one came from...and then she expertly sliced the good one and handed it to me, pure heaven...
