Quite a boring movie then... One would need to elaborate quite a lot to make that into an interesting movie. They said that about the miners stuck in a mine in Chile some years back, not heard of that movie being released. The reality is, in a couple of months this situation will have left the consciousness of most people, and they will be fascinated with something else

The Chilean rescue was indeed produced and finished in a movie in 2015:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2006295/
which I though have not seen (yet).

I still advocate to close Tham Luang for good and, if the authorities are at it, maybe crosscheck on other hazardous spots in the Kingdom.

As far as we know 1 person has died in that cave in the last 100 years.

How many millions of people have died on the roads in the same time. Would you close all roads too ?

No, of course not but if a cave is seasonally flooded in Thailand .......... This group got caught early in the rainy season (or whatever some expert might advise on why the water rose that high). The warning referred to not accessible as of July.

There are many other caves, in Thailand and neighbouring Laos, of which I know, which are not a seasonal risk. This was my point - possibly not made too clear in my earlier posting ?

The Thai diver Saman Gunan certainly didn't die in vain if what one of the British rescuers has said is true.

Wow. What a read. Thanks for the link.

The work of the movie script writers already done for them.

Some more behind the scenes details here. Not quite as riveting as Bangkokjack's but fills in a few more gaps as to how touch and go the success of the mission was.

Why do people enter caves in the first place? I'ts dark there are bats, spiders and all sorts of scary critters. What's the point?

So did I. And after having read your posts, we had the same.  However, entering a dark cave was not one of them.

I think you are possibly referring to storm drains emptying out in the brooks/rivers i ventured up in them many times, some said you could look up in the right place through the drainholes covers in the road, the concrete outlets would be about 30" diameter i think, yes halcyon days!
