Kate Kane was reintroduced into the DC Extended Universe in 2006 as a lesbian of Jewish descent

 

Batwoman is to become the first superhero show on TV with an openly gay lead.

 

The titular character, also known as Kate Kane, was first introduced into the DC Extended Universe in the 1950s as a love interest for Batman.

 

However, she was reintroduced in 2006 as a lesbian of Jewish descent.
