Dramatic video footage captures the moment a team of Thai rescue volunteers saved a terrified baby from flood water after the collapse of a dam in southern Laos.

The baby, who had survived for days without food was rescued along with 13 other people who were stranded following the collapse of the Xe-Namnoy dam.

In the video footage, which has now gone viral, the baby boy can be seen being carried to safety by the rescue volunteers, who have been widely praised by people commenting online.

The Thai team are said to have waded through miles of flood water and debris to rescue the stranded group.

Speaking to AFP, rescue volunteer Kengkard Bongkawong  said: “The boy is four months old. He didn't have fever but he was crying, maybe because of the cold weather.

“The baby was crying and looks terrified. Actually they were (all) still terrified of the rushing water.”

The rescue volunteers also took part in the mission to free to the 12 boys and their football coach from the Tham Luang cave.

But are now helping neighbouring Loas following the dam collapse which has claimed the lives of 27 people, with 131 officially recorded as missing, although those figures are expected to rise.

Estimates released on Friday said that as amany 10,000 people are thought to have been displaced by the flooding.

SAVED? people in Iraq.....oh now I get you....you are one of them.  Take a look at them now, they surely dont look like they have been saved.

Must be american, think they can save the whole world. In fact because of the war started by USA there are so many people who need saving in that region. But America will not help. Only make war.

Was the Musk Mobile taken and used?

very disturbing this whole thing, the dam should never have been built. destroying the environment and now human life just to make a profit.

Fantastic effort.  Well done !

He will be there in 2 weeks after the water recedes with an inflatable dam. A day late and a dollar short as usual.

Volunteering is not a job it's truly being a hero doing something you are not paid for and putting your life in danger to protect others.

Just questioning @stockakrishna opinion.

I realized that after I posted it, sorry didn't mean to sound like I was challenging you. I meant to react to the OP not you

I heard he showed up yesterday but as they couldnt get the press cameras in he decided the rescue attempt was totally pointless so postponed it a week.

I suspect the death toll to be muuuch higher than the officials want to admit.

BP reported of a man looking for survivors of his village (around 650 people), he found about 60.

The Laos governement will never release the real figures, bad for business.

You mean they wouldn't want to "spoil the image of Laos" as a tourist destination?
