A Korean restaurant in Pattaya went up in flames early on Thursday morning, police said. No one was injured.

The Pattaya police station was alerted to the fire at the Yang Mi Restaurant on South Pattaya Road in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district at 4 am.

Eight fire engines took about an hour to put out the blaze after it swept through the shop.

A neighbour told police that he smelt smoke and on seeing the flames, called the emergency services.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Now that is overdoing the Korean barbecue a bit.

Those Korean barbecues really are popular.

I find no humour in the misfortune of others.

The hot pot restaurants like MK used to use gas on customers' table a couple of decades ago, and there was fire often, now they have all changed to electric, maybe some of these korean bbq place still uses gas?

Knowing that most businesses and people living in Thailand don't have insurance, I think it is safe to rule out the owners as suspects.

Now look to unsatisfied customers...

I can't bear to sit in such restaurants where each table generates so much heat - it's an appetite killer.

In Korea, puppy fat does not mean the same as in the west.
