The longest-running scripted primetime series in US history will be entering its record 30th season this autumn as questions about its future swirl. With the impending merger of Disney and 21st Century Fox looming, Fox faces a future where it will have to eventually license new seasons of the show direct from Disney if it wants it to continue. Fox co-chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman addressed what the future of The Simpsons may hold during the TCA press tour on Thursday (August 2), with both seeming optimistic about keeping the show.
