The National Water Resources Office has ordered a readjustment of the plan to drain water out of Vajiralongkorn, Nam Oon and Kaeng Krachan dams in anticipation of more rains in the imminent future after water inflow to the three dams has reached a critical level.

NWRO secretary-general Somkiart Prachamwong said he had instructed the Royal Irrigation Department and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to adjust the water draining plan for the three dams after water in the dams are 90-100 percent full.

He disclosed that water in the Nam Oon dam in Sakhon Nakhon which has the capacity to hold 520 million cubic metres of water has spilled over the spillways, prompting officials concerned to install an addition of ten sets of siphon to accelerate the draining of water up to 3.6 million cubic metres/day out of the dam.

When a dam is overflowing it is no longer a dam.  It is a pipe.

Did they not see this coming at 80% and make an adjustment to the flow rate or do they not have a controlled sluice gate?

I have every confidence you can stay dry in a tall condo but will need a plan and snorkel in a bungalow?

Cue the  political references. last time there were massive floods, the former PM Yingluck was blamed by some in TVF. Now I expect that General Prayuth will suffer the same blame game, as if he was responsible.

The people running  these dams and doing the flood planning have been the same for decades. It seems, that no matter who is having the parade in Bangkok, the same people run these things, and the same methods and strategies are used.

Rhetorical question...

I am hoping they realize water flows downhill, the folks in Cambodia and my 35000 sq meters (22 Rai) of rice fields in Vietnam are in danger, water level is already rising dangerously with no where for the excess to go.  Oh well, win some lose some........the missus won't be happy.
