Thai TV got involved in the case of a Thai man who was caught travelling on the roof of a train bound for the north.

Train enthusiasts taking pictures at Chiang Rak Noi station spotted the man holding onto the top of the 201 Express from Bangkok to Phitsanuloke.

They notified the station master as the train moved out and 500 meters down the track it was stopped.

The man realizing that it was probably because of him climbed down.

Sanook reporting on the story that appeared on Amarin TV said that the man told staff that he was on his way to Ayuthaya.

And he didn't want to mix with the crowds in the carriages.

Sanook called it scary in their headline and quoted the railway enthusiasts as saying such behavior is not good as it is both dangerous and can cause delays to other passengers.

There were no reports of a fine or other sanction and it is not known if he had a ticket.

At least it avoids that 'enforced' aircon you can't switch off in the new carriages.

Either no ticket or a dare based on copying what happens in youtube videos from other countries.

It used to be normal at Songkhran and other holidays. The trains looked like they do in India.

..looking for a little facebook fame and fortune.????...try wandering into a cave !!!!!.....

As a Thai, his English must be excellent in order to teach.............................Oh, maybe not.

After taking the skytrain with the doors open, he figured that rules might have loosened up on the SRT as well.

Hoof it or roof it? Can't say I blame him, if the crowds were the real reason.

Guessed he saved himself 40 bt right there!    Good for him!

I used the BTS a couple of times over the weekend; excruciating discomfort; oxygen deprivation; fear of pick-pockets.  I am 75 and watched in disbelief as an adult gave up her seat to an 11 year old!

Ever since I've been here I've been honing my people-avoidance skills and tactics.
