G'day Y'all!

Looking to have Bluetooth on a Windows 10 desktop - no, there isn't any Bluetooth at the moment.

I'd like to be able to use my other devices - keyboard, mouse, tablet, smartphone, headphones, etc.

Anybody have any recommendations for an adapter or dongle to install Bluetooth on Windows 10?

Seen a dongle/adapter on Lazada and was wondering if anyone knows if perhaps this would be sufficient

Thanks

I have the same one, but I use it with Windows 7 and the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack. So can't say if Windows10 supports all of it's protocols.

Either way, the dongle itself if fine for what you need.

Many thanks for the info. From what I can gather, it's often the luck of the draw with BT dongles on Windows 10 - sometimes they work and sometimes they just don't.

The Lazada ad states that it's good for Windows 10 - but TIT so that's no real guarantee.

I'll order one and post the result - it might be of interest/help to other Win users.

Thanks

I'm sure it will work. It will just come down to how many of the protocols Windows 10 supports.

If the Windows 10 Bluetooth Stack doesn't do all that you need; for instance Streaming audio from some devices, use the latest Toshiba Bluetooth Stack.

The dongle referred will work fine with the win 10 bluetooth stack. Windows has significantly improved the bluetooth connectivity in their OS.

Well, the dongle finally arrived.

Easy to use on Windows 10 - just insert, wait a bit - and off you go. I was able to quickly pair my tablet and 2 pairs of headphones. Not so smart is the difficulty in changing the BT device name on Windows 10, but it IS actually possible. So far, so good.

Next - I tried the dongle out on my Windows 7 desktop. A lot of screwing around needed, as their were some problems with the drivers (and which couldn't be updated to anything newer) - and nothing worked after being paired. It meant using the accompanying mini-disk - and you're almost left guessing as to what should (or should not) be installed. I tried various combinations before apparently choosing the correct combination. A long and slow process, but finally managed to pair headphones and tablet. Headphones worked OK, but not sure if the tablet was correctly paired, or not. Still had a problem with one driver not being correct/recognized - but will only be using the headphones on this desktop, so not too concerned...

At 95 Baht the dongle is a real good deal. For those interested (as Lazada's ads often change or disappear again), this "High speed Adapters Dual Mode Adapter Mini USB 2.0 Bluetooth 4.0 CSR4.0 Adapter Dongle for Computer Laptop PC Win XP Vista 7 8 10, using CSR8510 chip, compliant with the Bluetooth 4.0 specification, dual-mode transmission." is sold by camry (the seller) and others. This particular dongle is white and gold, with a blue BT emblem on the upper plastic casing.

That should be enough info to be able to find the correct dongle again - even after many months.

A big thanks to KneeDeep and userabcd for their positive advise and comments - goodonyas!

You must have missed the bit about the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack ?

It's likely superior to anything that was supplied on the included optical media.

Download and save and unzip the package. Unistall the old package.

Everything you need to know can be found here; http://www.wiinupro.com/tutorials/toshiba-stack

Enjoy.

Hey, thanks KD for the extra info. It's a long weekend, so I've been busy with other things.

Tried downloading -

http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bltstk-20150226112143.zip version 9.10.32T

but after 3 hours (and 2 using different PCs) I gave up. The download consistently stops and restarts, about halfway through.

I'll give it a try again after the weekend - maybe things will go better.

Cheers
