New BTS Trains Coming To Extended Route

BANGKOK — The BTS system may soon get slightly less crowded as dozens of new trains with more capacity set to enter service later this year.

 

BTS Skytrain executives on Monday officially unveiled the first of 46 new trains in Chonburi province, purchased for 11 billion baht to support the Sukhumvit line and its extension to Samut Prakan province, which will open in December. The train, comprising four carriages, was delivered Sunday.

Removing the seats will allow for increased capacity. And more revenue.

They're still buying four-car trains for six-car platforms.  I wonder why?

New trains soon to be brought into service in London are 200 metres long. London and Bangkok have approximately the same size population. How long are the BTS trains?

The guys in charge of the tenders has a friend selling four-car trains and another friend selling six-car platforms.

More trains sets from China?  Most of the ones they bought some six years ago still don't stop smoothly without jerking two or three times.  Altho they are good for checking your balance abilities??
