A 52-year-old man was found dead in an outdoor stairwell of a Bangkok shopping mall late Monday night. Police suspect the man, who had an artificial right leg, fell and struck his head.

Sa-ngiam Thupimai could have been sitting on a ground-floor guardrail when he tumbled and landed head-first on the stairs leading to the basement level.

CCTV camera recordings were to be checked and witnesses sought.

Chokchai precinct police led by deputy superintendent Pol Lt Colonel Booncherd Srikong were called to the scene at 11pm and found the man’s walking cane leaning against the ground-floor guardrail up the steps from the body.

Witnesses said the man appeared to be drunk while sitting in front of the mall, where he was often seen.

RIP. Already handicapped and a slip brings on death. Sad.

Thailand is challenging enough without a disability

Sherlock Holmes would be proud of the police for deducing that the one legged drunk man sitting on a railing likely fell. RIP to the smartest person involved in the incident and investigation.
