Teak Table Touch Up

How is is currently finished? Our teak furniture is all oiled and waxed, madam just uses regular Pledge furniture polish (which contains various oils and waxes) to maintain the finish. This includes our main dining table, always use place mats and coasters.

I would not be putting poly anything on it, awful stuff.

Thanks Crossy. I was a bit suss on the polyurethane too. Here's what the finish looks like

Yep SWMBO uses Pledge too.
We had a heap of teak in Indonesia which we bought back, house furniture is nearly all teak.
Unfortunately it's used mainly for putting things on.
Still comes up good when the Pledge gets to it.20180819_083331.jpeg20180819_083320.jpeg20180819_083301.jpeg20180819_083240.jpeg20180819_083227.jpeg20180819_083213.jpeg20180819_083158.jpeg20180819_083108.jpeg

Lovely furniture!
Thanks. It doesn't seem like a big deal to us as we've had it for a long time. I would have bought a heap more if I had somewhere to put it. We just went to all the teak places around and bought what we liked. When I found those 3 m tables, there were about 50 pieces all stacked against a wall, covered in cobwebs and dust. I only bought 3 but at US $ 200 per table and chairs I felt like buying more. But that was more than 20 years ago I think.

As Crossy said virtually impossible to tell from the pictures you have posted what the finish is.

One way to tell is find a place where you can test without it showing, then try various solvents, all will be easily available, alcohol, acetone, and AAA thinner in that order. If none of them have any effect then you probably have a polyurethane finish, so a scratch test that will flake off a bit of the plastic (polyurethane) would confirm that.

If any of them work then it will be easier to advise on the best way to continue. But do stop testing if one works.
