Astro S33

I see that the Satellite channel Astro SS3 has some English Premium league matches on it. I'm with TrueVision at the moment and don't watch hardly any program content. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of setting up this channel in Thailand? if so what hardware is required etc.

with kind regards

Colin

It depends where you are, Astro have tightened their footprint over the years and you still have to pay the sub anyway.

To be honest, the days of hooking on to satellite aimed at other countries are pretty well over unless you're an avid tinkerer (I was, not any more).

With a decent internet connection there are numerous possibilities to get your fix of whatever sport you want, free and not free. None of them are strictly legal but then Astro wouldn't be anyway.

I use an outfit http://vanilla-box.com/ been with them (under various incarnations) for coming up on 3 years. All you need is an android device (tablet or TV box) and a decent connection. Cost <600 Baht a month for hundreds of channels (not all in English of course) with 7 day catch-up on many. Three day free trial to check it out.

Others will be along with suggestions of Mobdro and Kodi which are free and do work pretty well, but catch-up is essential for our lifestyle and my choices of telly.

I have problems to find a channel named "Astro SS3" or "Astro S33".

Astro packages are on a satellite names Measat 3/3a/3b.

https://www.lyngsat.com/packages/Astro.html

It's a Malaysian Pay-TV provider.

You would need serious satellite equipment (huge dish and special videoguard capable receiver). Close to impossible with private/amateur equipment.

Some cable providers have Astro channels (like in Pattaya).

The web site says its 28EUR/m (=1060THB) . Definitely shop around as you can get much better deals from 10USD for decent unbuffered service.

Is that via internet streaming?

Yes, and you only pay for the months you use it via Debit Card. Works perfectly, except it missed what should have been Man City's 4 other goals last weekend!!!!! I have mine into a 50

' Samsung. Perfect.

To get <600 Baht a month you have to pay for 12 months I'm afraid (170 Euro). Three months for 65 Euro.

Can you point us at a $10 service with 7 day catch-up?

Following with interest as I use a Android box at the moment & the channels are disappearing quickly

Kodi is more or less a waste of time now (though I do admit I've not looked for a new repository for some time) so I tend to mainly use Terrarium TV & 1 other which the name escapes me now but probably isn't worth looking into as the developer has declared he's winding it down./

Edit: If you do want an Android box, fully configured to watch loads of sports (plus tons of other channels/movies) check out http://www.footymadstreams.com/
