Ben Affleck is heading back to rehab.

The actor, 46, is seeking treatment for alcohol addiction, PEOPLE confirms.

A source tells PEOPLE, “He is seeking treatment. He knew he needed help and was vocal about it.”

The move to enter a treatment facility came after his ex Jennifer Garner was photographed arriving at his home on Wednesday.

It can be a real challenge to be extremely successful as an actor and director, be at the pinnacle of one's career, have tens of millions in the bank, be tall and good looking, and highly respected by one's peers. He may not be a great actor, but he sure is a great director. What a shame. What can one say?

Who cares ?   Just another overpaid actor who thinks they are somebody, but in terms of what they give back to the world, are actually nobodies.

You are missing the point here. As much as some of you like the play down the significance of movie stars, in today's society, they are the new Gods. The equivalent to Zeus, Jupiter, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo and Hermes to the ancient Greeks. Like it or not, these people are idolized by hundreds of millions.

And he really does care. He puts alot of time and effort into charity, unlike some cold hearted individuals who completely lack a charitable bone in their bodies, like Trump.

In addition to his successful film career, Affleck is also a passionate advocate and philanthropist.  In March 2010, he founded the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI), the first U.S.-based advocacy and grant-making initiative wholly focused on the mission of helping the people of eastern Congo support local community-based approaches that create a sustainable and successful society in the long-troubled region.  Affleck is also a longtime political activist, as well as a strong supporter of many charitable organizations, including Feeding America, Paralyzed Veterans of America, A-T Children¹s Project and the Jimmy Fund.

And of course the significant tax breaks he gets for his "philanthropy" have absolutely nothing to do with influencing his benevolence I suppose ?

It's like a horse race. Him and Matt Damon broke together but Damon is like Secretariat and Affleck is a Sham pardon the pun.

Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Argo. Not too shabby directing?

Argo: Best Picture Oscar (Affleck and Clooney producers).

Addiction is tough, sad to see this news.

Jennifer Garner's new film looks awesome: Peppermint, where she channels Liam Neeson.
