webfact
Visitors flooding back to Pa La-U waterfall after closure - authorities got 35,000 baht in a day. Picture: Talk News online Authorities proudly announced that visitors to the scenic Pa La-U waterfall had raised 35,610 baht for national park coffers in a single day on Wednesday. The waterfall - 60 kilometers from Hua Hin - that is a popular spot for both Thai and foreign tourists was closed during the bad weather but has now reopened. Kaeng Krachan park chief Mana Permpoon said that lots of visitors were coming. On Wednesday there were 83 Thai adults and children and 99 foreign adults and children making 182 visitors in all. Some 32 cars and motorbikes had entered too. There was no breakdown in the talknewsonline.com story about how much of the 35,610 was contributed by Thais and how much by foreigners. Thaivisa notes that Thailand's national parks have a policy of dual pricing that is criticized in some quarters. MRToMRT
"There was no breakdown in the talknewsonline.com story about how much of the 35,610 was contributed by Thais and how much by foreigners." ... so lets look at the numbers given...... 99 x 300 B = 29700 83 x 40 B = 3320 So - ignoring car and child fees variances (car fees are the same for foreign as well as Thai - 30 baht) maybe all cars are considered Thai cars) ............... 89% percent of their income was derived from foreigners and 11% from Thais. And based on my visits to other parks I would say that theres virtually no English spoken (as the foreigner lingua franca) as well as virtually no information materials in English. Or is this one different?
overherebc
Land in Japan as a tourist and they put a little silver coloured visa sticker in your passport. Get on the fast ferry, Osaka to Kobe, show the desk the sticker and get a very good discount on the fare, not a 10 fold increase. ? Normal fare 1850 Yen tourist 1000 Yen. ujayujay
Dual Price Rip off. Beware this kind of " attraction".
TeaMonkey
You know you’re getting ripped off when they write the Thai prices in the Thai character set. Such as ๕๐ instead of 50.
manhood
I stay away and don't take friends visiting to any NP anymore due to the rip off! All NP come with 0 foreign language information. So to go and look a waterfall for 300 0 bath is more than crazy. The only thing that helps: stay all foreigner away!!!!!
