August 29, 20187 yr Italthai eyes road construction dominance By The Nation Italthai Industrial is actively gearing ahead to lead the road construction market through the introduction of the US brand Power Curbers and Power Pavers, aiming to penetrate all types of road construction up to mega projects. The firm said the US technique met the needs of Thai contractors by more than 50 per cent and resulted in increased efficiency. The launch strengthens the multi-brand strategy and is expected to push this year’s revenue up by 40 per cent. Adis Peukpattanaruks, CEO of Italthai Industrial Co, Ltd, said: “For the second half of 2018, Italthai Industrial plans to boost sales in the road construction segment, which is obviously a huge market with widening opportunities. “Extensive nationwide road expansion is driven by continuing investment in road construction as a result of the government’s economic development plan as part of Thailand’s logistics infrastructure development strategy.” Italthai Industrial has a broad spectrum of heavy machinery such as Volvo ABG asphalt paver, motor graders and soil compactors will undoubtedly serve comprehensive road construction needs from streets to superhighways, Adis said. “We expect an increase in the sales volume of road construction machinery will compensate those of other segments with slow growth in the first half of 2018. The slow progress of the government’s mega-projects has led to slow investment amongst contractors, particularly, in heavy machinery products. “The company aims to achieve a 40 per cent revenue increase from the previous year.” Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30353301 -- © Copyright The Nation 2018-08-30

August 29, 20187 yr Popular Post as long as the local tambonchiefs not order a decent road it will be the same , just some compactes oldroad with a bit of cement mixed in an a tiny layer of toplayer asphalt that has holes in it even before the markings are painted on it

August 30, 20187 yr Popular Post These guys are totally incompetent and not capable building a road without bumps, that is not cracking already after latest 3 months. Great engineering. They are a Big Joke...
August 30, 20187 yr Popular Post The biggest problem.with road construction in Thailand is not the machinery they use to lay the top of the road. It is the lack of a properly compacted road base of adequate depth using graduated sizes of proper base-course gravel. Every road I have seen is laid on clay or sand. Guaranteed to fail in 2 to 5 years and does!!!! Add in poor placement of mesh in secondary roads and badly made concrete with too little cement nearly everywhere. I mean everywhere.

We have that problem with the road leading from the ring road of Khon kaen to our village only a few miles takes forever transversing the moon size craters, Wife says they do a cheap job and pocket half the money.

August 30, 20187 yr You can use whatever technique you like if the material acceptances procedures and quality control measure are not met then its a just a waste of time and money. A mix design for concrete will have different percentages for different sized aggregates also cement and water content (Slump) in some cases if concrete is being pumped long distance a retardent is required. Concrete is not as simple as it seems. Edited August 30, 20187 yr by Dave67

August 30, 20187 yr I forget who cracked the joke, but it goes like this... The man who invented "cat's eyes" did so after seeing the light reflected from a cat's eye. It's a good job the cat wasn't going the other way or he would have invented the pencil sharpener.
