Authorities seize 35 tonnes of fake cigarettes

Anti-economic crime police on Tuesday raided a factory producing counterfeit cigarettes and seized 35 tonnes of the product in Kandal province. Long Sreng, head of the anti-economic crime department, said on Tuesday that the raid was carried out in collaboration with local authorities following a complaint from the company authorised to produce the cigarettes under the ESSE brand. “We cracked down on the factory in the province’s Takmao city after receiving a complaint from the producer of ESSE cigarettes,” he said. “We seized the fake cigarettes from the factory’s warehouse in the town’s Kampong Samnanh village.” Provincial police chief Eav Chamreoun on Tuesday identified the owner of the company registered to produce ESSE cigarettes as Sat Dane.

Most likely, one manufactured without authority or license from the company that owns the ESSE brand. "Fake, pirated, knock-off, imitation, copy", and so forth.

Fake smokes? I doubt it ,,,Illegal  yes I believe, No Tax paid  is Illegal Not Fake, Fake smokes are made of dried Horse Shit.

It is the cigarettes STAMP that were fake.The cigarettes are still cigarettes, even though they are of a grade of tobacco maybe number 4/5.Even the American stamped tobacco produced in Asia is of a low grade,a mixture of 3 and 4 grade .The tobacco grade sold in America for cigarettes  is of a mixture of one and two grade with the percentage varying for the different taste.
