Creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening, has revealed details about one of the most famous cameos on his show.

Back in 1991, Michael Jackson was believed to have recorded a cameo on the long-running animation, where he played a balding, overweight patient in a psychiatric ward, alongside Homer Simpson, in the episode Stark Raving Dad.

While the character sported a high-pitched voice and had the singing pipes of the late King of Pop, the storyline riffed on the notion it was Michael, before he admitted he was a phoney all along.

Many a rumour has surrounded the character’s voice, with some claiming it was Michael Jackson himself talking, however someone else was brought in to sing.

Zzzz'z

Of course it was Jackson, himself.

His name was on the rolling credits at the end of the show.
