Speech Therapist

Our 3 year son doesn’t talk, we took him to Bangkok Hospital to a Doctor who specialises in child behaviour, she said there was nothing physically or mental wrong with him, probably ‘lazy’ as he has got used to pointing at what he wants.

One of her recommendations was lessons from a Speech Therapist once a week, does anyone know of one in the Pattaya area, it would be ideal if we could have home visits as we don’t have transport, thanks in advance.

My nephew was the same at that age. We were not sure if chatting Thai and English to him was making him confused. Doctors advised just to speak Thai to him and he would learn English when he is older.

A few years on and we can't stop him talking now!

Nothing to worry about, if the doctors have already checked him out. Just enjoy the silence whilst you can.?

Thanks for the info, the frustrating thing his he understands everything in Thai or English although the Consultant didn’t say that was a problem.

Possibly it was down to the fact the previous places we lived he never mixed with kids is what the Consultant said.

He seems to understand the culture very well already! As mentioned, some kids start talking late, most likely nothing to worry about especially where the consultant is confident there's not a problem. This is different from something like autism, which can be detected at an earlier stage in infancy.
