Cambodia's famed Angkor earns nearly 79 mln USD in 8 months

Featured Replies

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Revenue from ticket sales to foreigners visiting Cambodia's famed Angkor Archaeological Park reached 78.7 million U.S. dollars in the first eight months of 2018, up 13.8 percent over the same period of last year, said a press release on Saturday.

The park welcomed 1.74 million international tourists during the January-August period this year, up 8.5 percent over the same period of last year, said the release from the state-run Angkor Enterprise, which is in charge of ticket sales at the park.

China is still the largest source of tourists to the ancient site, as South Korea and the United States rank second and third, respectively.

The entrance fee to the park is 37 U.S. dollars for a one-day visit, 62 dollars for a three-day pass, and 72 dollars for a week-long pass.

In the entirety of 2017, the park attracted 2.45 million foreigners, earning 108 million U.S. dollars in revenue from ticket sales.

Situated in northwest Cambodia's Siem Reap province, the Angkor Archeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the kingdom's most popular tourist destination.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

And was told the park was manged by a Vietnamese company.  And the average Cambodian gets ?   The word "grief" comes to mind.

The saliva must be pouring out of the jealous junta generals mouth reading that.  Bet at this very moment he is opening another offshore account in the name of Anger Watt

An amazing place.  Everyone should go.    You can buy rubbings of some portions of the walls which tell Cambodian History that are beautiful.

Was good to visit 8/10 years back but now the volume of  tourists has turned it into an expensive  'circus'..

I wonder what the skim percentage is.
