Big Joke arrests 11 Chinese working illegally via computers at Bang Plee house

The Tourist Police Bureau reported that 11 Chinese men and women were arrested for running a business from a house in the Bang Plee area of Samut Prakarn.

 

They had mostly entered Thailand on tourist visas and were using hundreds of phones, illegally imported SIM cards and notebooks to run a business selling things via Line and WeChat - one of China's biggest applications for online trade.

 

 

Maj-Gen Surachate Hakpal led his men, 191 cops, tech officers and local police to the 40,000 baht rented property in the Wararom Lake View estate armed with a warrant.

 

All the eleven men and women - working for a bigger investor - face deportation and are now in custody.

 

Police bagged 276 phones, 1,753 SIMS and 14 computer notebooks.

 

 

Maj-Gen Surachate - known as Big Joke in the Thai media - said the group were not just illegal workers in Thailand but were causing economic damage and using illegal means.

What is the purpose of so many phones and SIM cards?

Big Joke is more and more a big Joke for me, he's doing nothing but travel around to be on the picture of arrests made by others and then the newspapers starts the headlines with "Big joke arrest....." That is fake news!, false information given to the public or just as always a big joke.

191 Police? Seems rather a lot?

Some of us may not be aware that it is now illegal to take photograph in Thailand without Big Joke appearing in it. He's a busy guy so you can use the app that places him in the frame.

 

Sheesh! this guy, what a joke.

So, if the goods being sold were coming from China why the need to set up an illegal base in Thailand, it's all online commerce.

Well, it would seem that illegal workers are much more of a threat than rapists...  

Many kids of the cops will get new phones and laptops for X-mas I guess.

Line accounts are tied to the phone (not sure, but I think the phone number actually). More phones (SIMs), more Line accounts.

My god, what an ugly looking lot. they were sure at the end of the queue when good looks were handed out.

Not sure why so may phones but I have a guess where they might end up!

Why can't the Chinese do this kind of business inside their own country? Or maybe choose Cambodia where anyone can get a 1 year business visa, no questions asked.

Unless they only have Thai customers,
