Visa Transfer to New Passport - Fee?

Featured Replies

Firstly, thanks to KeyVisa  for a good, swift service, saving me the hassle of two Bangkok trips.

Secondly, does anyone know if transferring a visa from old passport to new has any fee?

Officially there is no fee. But there have been reports on here of certain immigration offices unofficially seeking payments of around 500 THB for this service. Which is your local office?

You cannot transfer a VISA, the one in your old passport remains valid, just show both to immigration.

You can transfer an extension of stay, should be free. You will need the letter from your embassy stating that you have a new passport.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Hmmm! When I asked about this at the Udon Thani office, I was told it was free.

When I went in to have it done, the fee had jumped to 500 THB!

As always, smoke and mirrors.

So for me, I just got my new passport and has a letter from my embassy stating the same.

I am already leaving Thailand for good, so I do not need to transfer the visa/extension of stay/90 day notice from my old passport to my new one and just show both passport at the immigration on departure?
