Bohemian Rhapsody’ actor Rami Malek has hit back at critics who have suggested the upcoming film shies away from discussing Freddie Mercury’s sexuality and AIDS diagnosis.

Rami stars as the Queen frontman in the biopic, the trailer for which dropped earlier this year.

However, some were disappointed when the trailer made no references to the singer’s sexuality or illness, but did show him in a romantic exchange with a woman.

Rami has now insisted people have been too quick to judge the film, discussing the subject in an interview with Attitude magazine.

well, a trailer usually occupies 0.001% the duration of a film

FM's introvert lack of public airing of what he was suffering, meant that for 0.999% of the hours he lived - no one knew about his AIDS

by this then, one can pro-rata only expect a few seconds at most, of the film's trail even broaching the subject

a bit the same as how there was insignificant airing ever about Rock Hudson either - it only really 'came out' into the public arena during actual documentaries, and newspapers...
