Hi kids! You like comic book movies, right? Well lucky for you there is a hot off the press trailer for the new Marvel film and it's a bit of a doozy.

That's correct. The first trailer for Captain Marvel has finally arrived online and it looks as glorious as you could have hoped.

Starring Brie Larson as the title character, real name Carol Danvers, the blockbuster is already significant as it is the first Marvel movie to be fronted solely by a woman.

The awesome trailer features a number of familiar, if not younger faces, such as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), as well as Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn, who play the leaders of the two alien races at the centre of the movie, the Kree and the Skrulls.

Captain Marvel was a boy named Billy Batson who could transform into the super hero by declaring "Shazaam!". I see no need to have him changed into a female without the necessary operation. As a youngster I preferred reading his exploits over those of Superman. But then I preferred Hopalong Cassidy over Roy Rogers or Gene Autry. Not so much singing!

Ahhh Mac98, I feel for you. I too have that same annoyance at the changing of an old familiar face.

Been following comics? The problem came with the lapse of the original publisher or National Comics / DC who was, like Marvel, buying old properties, using the the title "Captain Marvel". It just disappeared, so the rights to the name lapsed. So Marvel, back in the 70's, created a new, alien, Captain Marvel to capitalize on it. (Marvel Comics has had at least 3 different Captain Marvels that I know of). So they got miffed when DC tried to bring back the classic Captain Marvel, at which point lots of legal nastiness involved. The Captain Marvel that you and I known became Marvel Man (and that's another horror story - see "Miracleman" ) and then changed to "Shazam"...

It's all a bit of a dogs breakfast really.

Thanks. Keep story, movie and heroine, but name her Captain Marvelous, or Lady Marmalade.
