Thai Script On The Cover Of A Story Book

Featured Replies

I am reading some children's books ราชา กะ ฤๅษี some of you should be familiar with these story books. I got it from a book store in Bangkok. Basically, it is a story about king an a holyman. On the cover, in the upper right hand corner, it has พิมพ์ครั้งที่6 and I am guessing it means something like "6th printing" or "6 in the series" or something to that nature. Could someone care to elaborate. Here is the karaoke "Pim krang tii 6". Also, it might help to know there are 6 books in the series.

On the back of the book, in the lower left hand corner, printed is สำหรับเด็กอายุ 5 - 8 ปี and the karoake is "samrap dek aayuu haa - bpat pii" and I am assuming it means "suitable for children ages 5 -8 years old".

Also, on the back in the lower right hand corner is printed 55.- which I am pretty sure means 55 baht. The question is this, are prices usually printed as 55- or do they usually include the . (period, jut) after the numbers.

Which is more popular, 55- or 55.-

Also, I asked this before, but I will ask it again. Do they print ฿55 หรือ 55฿

Also, do they put a space between the ฿ and the arabic numbers, like 55฿ หรือ 55 ฿

6th printing is correct (i.e. 'print time 6th'). 6th edition might be a more common way of expressing it in English.

Yep. Literally 'for child age five - eight year'.

IME, 55.- is definitely more common, but I have seen both.
Do they print ฿55 หรือ 55฿

The former generally. More commonly used on books is ราคา X บาท .

Thanks for the reply. I am grateful. However, I am still wondering about the spacing between the ฿ and the arabic numbers in money amounts, like 55฿ หรือ 55 ฿

I have been looking around on the internet and asking questions, however, I get different answers. Anyone care to give their opinion.

:D Yeah, I can see how this is an altogether crucial issue.

Hopefully somebody will come along to help you settle your curiosity. Where else did you ask? :o
