Davef2912
Hello, as the title says, I'm looking for recommendations to travel from Chiang Mai to Savannakhet for a Visa run. Bus to Roi Et? Flight to Nakhon Panom? What are your recommendations and experiences? Thanks!
Cletus
Have a look at the Visa section, this has been discussed a lot.
freedomnow
Flight to Khon Kaen then minivan to border is one way...or if not in a rush...flight to Ubon from CM then over to Pakse town in Lao, then up to the dustbowl pit that is Savannakhet......can also get minivan after taxi from Ubon airport to bus station... from Ubon to Mukdahan...ultra boring.....lots and lots of 40 Baht/10,000 kip 660ml Beer Lao will get you through it. Make sure you can show 20k bank statement or better if its a tourist visa you are applying for in Savanapit.

I usually do that, then the overnight bus back to Chiang Mai. But does the MiniVan still run from KK center, or has it moved this year? Samuel Smith
It's a nice drive, one day each way. Park your car by the bridge.
