PHUKET:-- Following today’s downpours, which seriously affected Patong and Kamala, Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana went to inspect the worst hit area on the Patong – Kamala Road (route 4233).

Governor Phakaphong ordered relevant government officials are quickly check the damage caused and provide assistance to any persons affected by the floods.

Officials from the Patong Municipal Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Patong Municipality and the Kamala Sub-district Administrative Organisation, or OrBorTor, and related departments took machinery to repair sections of route 4233 where landslides had occurred.

A personal inspection is a good thing. it allows him to confirm where the money has been wasted and corruption has occurred and how he needs to shut his eyes to that.

Platitudes will be offered and then he will return to his plush office and all will be forgotten.

Nothing new here. It happens every day in the phoney corrupt world of Thai administration.

Yes, how dare he turn up and see a part of the island that was very heavily hit yesterday- the nerve of him.

People like you add NOTHING to the equation- I'm willing to bet you are not based in Phuket and are completely unaffected by the events of yesterday.

You are quite correct; I add nothing to the incompetent and corrupt Thai administration equation. In this case meaning administrators like the Phuket governor who is responsible for ensuring proper drainage in times of flood so as to prevent damage such as this.

Going and looking at the results of his maladministration is just a PR exercise.

That looks a bit worrying on one of the three busy routes into/out of Patong, after a few hundred tour buses and a hundred cement mixers have run across the bit of patching they will probably do on it???

As its a bridge I hope they have structural engineer give it the all clear or at least limit Heavy Goods/weight restrictions until repaired fully
