How To Go From Bkk To Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Traveling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I heard flying is the best way to go. How much are the flights on average and do we need to book them in advance or just the day we want to travel. I am not sure how often the flights occur.

Then we want to fly from Chiang Mai to Phuket. Does anyone know how long the flight is and cost average?

I would try Airasia. You can book them online or at little booths which are harder to find. They are a bargain basement company, but we use them regularly and are happy with them. I don't know if you can fly Phuket-Chang Mai or if you would have to change in BKK. Give them a go. :o

THAI offers one daily non-stop flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket (but no non-stop service in the reverse direction). Every other carrier will require a connection in Bangkok. I don't have the exact price of the non-stop TG flight at-hand, but I'm guessing that it's now in the neighborhood of 6000 baht.

The train is the best way :o you can go by day or overnight sleeper, takes about 10 hours however flying is easier to organise. Depending on when you are travelling (try to avoid easter and songkran) and if you are not in a particular hurry then there is really no need to book in advance. You can however book online if you wish. There are several low cost carriers on those routes, you could try

12Go

Nok Air

Air Asia

Thai Airways

Low cost carriers prices vary depending on time of day and tend to increase as the plane fills up.

Book well in advance and go with NOK I've found their prices cheaper if booked in advance. Now able to book over the internet

Or if you're short of money, you can take the overnight bus for as low as about 100 BAHT...

Takes about 12 hours but it can be quite a laugh!

I've never booked BKK to CNX ever... There's that many flights from several airlines daily, that their really is no need.

Just buy your ticket from one of the airline ticket booths at the airport on the same day you want to travel..
