I will be applying for an extension of stay shortly. However, within the 'under consideration' period I will be returning home and I was thinking of getting a new multiple non-B while there. It seems to me there are several advantages to this:

- If I get turned down for the extension I'd have to get a new non-B anyway; on short notice, and at great expense that is.

- If I do get the extension I'd need a multiply re-entry permit which is about the same price as a multiple non-B.

- If I lose the job I'd likely have quite a bit more than 7 days to pack my bags.

Will the consulate grant a multiple non-B while I'm under consideration ?

Will a new non-B affect the extension (linked to old visa?)

Thx

Depends on the Consulate. If you had gotten a 30 day consideration with a active reentry permit, the Consulate is not suppose to issue a visa that could override the active Immigration reentry permit.

If you simply left Thailand without a reentry permit. The 30 day cxl's. No problem then getting a non immigrant visa.

When you reenter Thailand, if you use your 30 day under consideration, it won't affect the extension

If you reenter Thailand and use the new non immigration visa, it would affect your extension.

- If I do get the extension I'd need a multiply re-entry permit which is about the same price as a multiple non-B.

However with the extension of stay you can stay for a year. With a multi entry visa, you must travel in 90 days.

If you have been accepted for a 30 day under consideration. Odds are very high you will get a one year extension.

Any entry of a non immigrant visa can be used to extend if you meet the requirements - but you will still have to obtain a re-entry permit to keep the new extension of stay alive if you travel.
