Thai marriage visa - first time extending

Featured Replies

Hi all, so this is the first time i will be extending my marriage visa, the first time i made it - last year, i used a letter from the embassy(Israel) to get an affidavit that i make over 40k a month, since i used to work remotely in a job from back home.

Situation has change considerably since then, i now work online, i have an online business that is unrelated to israel and is out of thailand so i dont have a work permit/thai company either.

The 400k funds arent a problem the thing is i didnt know i was supposed to have it in the bank for 2 or 3 months, i have a total of 3 bank accounts here so i went ahead and got letters from all three + transactions from 90 days back.

in all three there was money in and out that sometimes went lower than 400k in each , not sure about the total

my question is how does it work ? the stamped letters from the banks just say that i have an account with them and the CURRENT balance on the account, which has over 400k in 2 out of the 3, how does the immigration check how long the money was in the account ?

does it have to be one account that will show over 400k for the whole 90 days back ? or can it be total of the 2 or 3 accounts ?

how do i go about this ? my visa will expire on December 1st.

TIA

400,000 has to be in the bank/banks for a period of 2 months when applying.

It must not dip below this during that time.

The updated bank books will show this.

It can be in more than 1 bank but might complicate things a little

You can always apply for a 60 day extension to give you more time.

If using more than one account the total of them must never drop below 400k baht during the 2 months before you apply. You will need copies of all the bank books updated on the date you apply to prove you maintained a balance 400k baht or more for those 2 months.

You apply at your local Immigration office.

Ok thank you guys, went to the immigration office today, confirmed what you said, need to get an extension of stay and then , when the 2 months has passed i can apply for the marriage visa again.

1 more question please, the visa will run out on DEC 1st, what if i leave thailand right before that date to go on a trip(that i was going to do anyway, to japan) and then come back to thailand and i will get a VOA 30 days tourist visa and when arrive il get the papers ready and apply for the marriage visa again, would that be the same in the eyes of the immigration ?

or its worse in some way ?

You cannot apply for a Visa at Thai Immigration.

You can apply for an extension of stay.

hmm ok , so i used the wrong term then, about my question ? would it be the same result if i do it that way ?

There is no 30 day VOA.

You are probably asking about a Visa Exempt Entry.

Yes it would work but would be more complicated as you would need to convert your Entry to a Non Imm O Visa first.

If you got 30 day visa exempt entry (a 30 day visa on arrival does not exist) you would have to start all over again by getting a new non-o visa entry that is required to apply for a extension of stay,
