THAILAND AND Unicef are planning to cooperate more closely for the better care of migrant and stateless children.

The plan was discussed during a meeting yesterday between Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Unicef executive director Henrietta Fore.

“We are also ready to share our experiences and learn from other nations,” General Prayut said.

Fore, who paid a courtesy call on the prime minister, praised Thailand for implementing several good projects for children and youth.

Prayut, meanwhile, revealed that his government was now preparing a new draft for national children and youth development.

“Our goals are to improve the quality of life of children and youth, and ensure they have necessary learning and life skills to keep pace with the changing world,” he said.

According to him, this plan – when implemented – will also strive to prepare children and youth to participate as good citizens and contribute to social development.

Some people ask why the guy gets so much criticism. Only two reasons:

Everything he says and everything he does.

Because, when it comes to humanitarian causes it's better to learn from the best. Thailand number one.

Elections time.

What’s utterly disgraceful is that, as always, it’s all about ‘show’. The General will get all of these Human Rights accolades merely for saying what his audience wants to hear...he doesn’t have to actually…do…anything.

Have a good old moan , are you moaning about anything specific , or just a general random moan ?

They can't even adequately fund quality educational programs in rural Thai villages.  So how are stateless and migrate kids going to benefit when rural kids languish?

The villages surrounding where I live must still be waiting for these 'good projects'.  Any family with a couple of thousand baht notes to rub together sends their kids into either Lamphun or Chiang Mai for their education.  Everyone knows that the schools in the sticks are a dead-end.

The only things I hear about projects for education and the poor is how much money the people in charge have stolen from them.

And dont forget the scandal about the unusable substandard all weather pitches installed cheaply in so many schools recently.

I wonder if these were topics discussed with UNICEF?

Indeed.

As it's all about the children.

Of course it is.????
