Thian
http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=8707.0 Has anybody tried growing this yellow mexican mangosteen in thailand? It can stand cold untill around freezingpoint, can stand droughts of 8 months nonstop, produces in 4-5 years from seed and is supposed to be a nice fruit. Sounds like a good alternative for growing rice in dry area's.

From a Florida nursery catalog: They grow there in the jungle, i've seen a video of them in their own habitat. They can stand drought of 8 months, can stand minor frost, fruit in a few years.....seems to be perfect for North thailand i think. I know a person with that tree in Thailand but it still has to fruit. The seeds are sold in large quantities to farmers all over the world and some already produce fruit (in Taiwan). If i had much bare land i would order 100 seeds and plant them....if they are better than purple mangosteen is hard to believe though but you never know. Best would be to plant hundreds of them and sell all fruit to an exporter from Europe.
