CHIANG MAI, 24th October 2018 (NNT)-Heavy rains continue in several provinces of Thailand including Chiang Mai, Uthai Thani and Phetchaburi provinces where many areas have become waterlogged.

In Chiang Mai, the recent rainfall has submerged roads in Thanon Sri Muang Community. No homes have so far been flooded. Traffic around Thanon Chang Khlan Intersection has also reportedly been moving smoothly given the low flood level.

In Uthai Thani, a 34-year-old national park officer, Mr. Pakorn Pakkathin , was found dead in Khao Bandai Forest after he was swept away by strong currents while trying to cross the river last Sunday.

In Phetchaburi, the Royal Irrigation Department has decided to release water from Kaeng Krachan Huai Mae Prachan and Huai Pha Mak reservoirs for safety reasons after the recent rain caused the level of water in both dams to rise significantly. Up to 80 cubic meters of water a second is being released from both dams, a quantity considered safe for riverside communities.
