British Tourist Found Dead in Phuket Hotel Room A 41-year-old British tourist has been found dead inside his hotel room in Patong, Phuket, after hotel staff became concerned when he failed to respond on his scheduled check-out day. The man, identified as Zakir Mahood, had been staying alone at the hotel since July 24 and was due to leave on August 3. Staff said the room had last been cleaned on July 27, after which Mahood placed a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, which remained there for several days. At around 11am on August 3, the head housekeeper went to check on him but received no response. Staff opened the room and found him dead inside. Initial examinations found no signs of a struggle, forced entry or the room being ransacked. A forensic doctor estimated that he had died between 12 and 24 hours before he was discovered. His body was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy, while the British Embassy was notified to assist with contacting his relatives. The exact cause of death has not yet been established.
