Officials deny ‘irregularities’ in artificial coral reef project

PHUKET: The Phuket office of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning (DPT) has denied any wrongdoing in the multi-million-baht project to create artificial reefs around Phuket amid a court case that officials are hesitant to explain.

 

In a statement issued via the Phuket office of the Public Relations Department on Friday (Oct 26), the DPT Phuket office revealed that no videos or other materials documenting the deployment are to be posted online or published elsewhere following an order by the Phuket Provincial Court.

 

The statement recognised that the centre of controversy stemmed from claims posted on social media and noted that the order was in relation to Black Case No. 1306/2018 being heard at the Phuket Provincial Court, dated October 22, 2018.

Following on from the (pointless) ongoing investigation into irregularities awarding of the lifeguard contract, it might seem that Phuket is attempting to win the title: Hub of all Thai corruption.

"About 80 million baht budget" stated.  Approved contractor bid 63 million, and there were a total of 5000 blocks.  

The whole article could be a lot clearer, but then again maybe not.

It's evolution. Thai government and bureaucracy has taken thousands of years to arrive at this level.
