I am nearing the end of my tourist visa, 2 months plus 1 month extension. I have the choice of returning to Australia and obtaining a tourist visa in Sydney or going to Laos and getting one there. I would prefer the Laos option, as it would cheaper and quicker but I'm concerned that an application there would be refused, necessitating a return to Australia. I would welcome advice on this issue. Thanks in anticipation.

Unless you have 3 or more tourist visas issued by the Vientiane embassy you will have no problem getting a single entry tourist visa there.

You will need a completed application form with 2 photos attached, copy of passport photo page. Lao visa on arrival and entry stamp. The fee is 1000 baht.
