How are the roads this morning? I’m supposed to go to Bangkok later today. Will the driver be able to get me there?

Should be ok, drains in 30 mins usually

The beach is now about 3 nautical miles away.

Yes, I was looking at Pattaya CCTV, looks like just central Pattaya to me, rest of the town looks great. Roads flooded near me and cleared very quickly, they did a great job with the drainage and people are getting on with their lives and getting to work which is important. I don't think in the broad scheme of things most of Pattaya residents worry too much about beer bar areas getting flooded.

When the rain is that heavy its always going to flood.

Most are now likely underwater twice.

And they've been tearing up 2nd road again for futile resurfacing work, instead of concentrating on work aimed at minimising water damage, as they should.

But I bet it didn’t stop the Brits getting to their usual bar stool on Soi Buakhao.

We are made of sterner stuff.

Flooding not too bad in Jomtien Beach area. There is still a lot of open land here that absorbs rainfall, unlike Pattaya that is mostly paved over.

I awoke to the thunder at 0200 and watched the storm from my balcony. It was raining about as hard as I had ever seen here and the east to west wind was carrying it along in huge waves. Usually storms like this are finished within 20 minutes but this one just kept going until about 0500.

This is the Soi I live in.... they just finished upgrading the drainage (8th time in the past 10 years).

Result same same !

Climate is always changing, that's what it does. Annual rainfall for TH, has remained steady. When you mismanage the natural flow of rainfall, or live on flood planes, OMG, you get flooded. Go figure. If anything, a few times with decreased rainfall. From AI ...
