extension to 30 days given at the border

Featured Replies

I have a friend arriving next week who will be stamped in for 30 days on arrival, i know from past experience

that this can be extended for 7 days. He has been told that the law has been changed and and you can now get a 30 day extension.

Is this true?

Yes. The extension of stay for a visa exempt entry was increased to 30 days several years ago.

No. 30 days is standard at all immigration offices.

7 days to leave the country would be given to someone that has an extension application declined.

That is what a person with a 15 day visa on arrival would get.

Or for a person that are getting their visa exempt entries based upon a bilateral agreement.

What nationality is your friend?

Russians for example do not qualify for 30 day extension and gets only 7 days.

He can get a 30 day extension of his visa exempt entry at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht. Been that way since August of 2014.
