webfact
Thai 2018 growth should exceed four percent - deputy PM FILE PHOTO: Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak speaks during a seminar on fintech in Bangkok, Thailand, June 14, 2017. REUTERS/Chaiwat Subprasom BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy is still expected to grow at least 4 percent this year as the government is driving exports, tourism and government spending, a deputy prime minister said on Monday. "In the fourth quarter, if we can get 3.5 percent growth or higher, the full-year rate will definitely exceed 4 percent," Somkid Jatusripitak told reporters. His comment came after data earlier on Monday showed Thailand's economy failed to expand in July-September from the previous three months, with annual growth at just 3.3 percent, well below expectations. yellowboat
Facts should never get in the way of good propaganda. How Somkid and his rosy colored financial reports help the average Thai is unknown to the average Thai. They just keep struggling.
spidermike007
More absolute nonsense. There are a dozen factors limiting economic growth at the moment. Tourism is way down. Even Chinese tourism. Western tourism has fallen off the rails. The Thai army is disliked and disrespected by planet earth. They have over extended their welcome by years. Time to go. You are bringing down the nation. Get out now.

Eric Loh
Thailand should be growing by more than 4% and become the next Asian Tiger but instead Vietnam will likely to be the next Asian Tiger with growth projection of 7% over the next decade following the same trajectory of South Korea and Taiwan. Big let down and a travesty to the people by the selfish elites and the military. 1
