The State Railways of Thailand (SRT) will propose to the Transport Ministry for extensions of the three routes of the suburban Red Line train estimated to cost a total of 24 billion baht.

The three routes are: Rangsit-Thammasat University which is 8.84 km long and estimated at 6.5 billion baht; Talingchan-Salaya which is 14.8 km long and estimated at 10 billion baht and Talingchan-Siriraj which is 8.7 km long and estimated to cost 7.5 billion baht.

SRT acting governor Warawuth Mala said Thursday that once an approval is granted by the cabinet, the SRT will call for a bidding  for the construction of the three extensions which are expected to take about three years and to become serviceable in 2022.
