BANGKOK, 23rd November 2018 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has presided over the opening ceremony of ‘Thailand 4.0 in the Making’ held by the Ministry of Science and Technology to stress the importance of technology in moving the country forward.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, the Deputy Prime Minister said the government is placing particular emphasis on the use of innovation and technology to develop the country.

He added STEM education is also important as it will pave the way for the young generation of Thais to become more interested in technology and use it to expand their businesses when they are older.

Mr. Somkid claimed countries with high income; like the U.S. and Japan, often have advanced technology, adding that Thailand needs to follow in their footsteps. Over the past four years, the Deputy Prime Minister said, 113 billion baht has been invested in the research and development sector and it is likely to grow further.

He also expressed his belief that the event would serve as a platform that will inspire innovative learning and scientific development across all industries.

Thailand 4.0 in the Making features innovations by King Rama V and King Rama IV who are recognized as Father of the Thai Science and Father of Thai Technology respectively. It is also presented in four zones that serve different scientific purposes. The event is being held at Siam Square, Bangkok until Sunday.

Dream on. To mimic the US or Japan would require too many unpalatable changes in so many ways and just high tech (if you can even do that) won't do it on it's own...not going to fly unless the requisite changes to the law (plus fair to all enforcement of it), education system and ease of doing business here happens to allow said desired innovation. Can't have your cake and eat it as investors aren't stupid. What you'll end up with is just more benefits and riches for the indigenous elite rich 5% and the huge monster companies.
