It has been mentioned before about another alternative too having a Will made with a Lawyer.

It has been said you can register a ‘Will’ at the Amphur Office, what is the procedure, would you still need an executor and can you put also in the ‘Will’ your wishes to what happens to you re cremation etc ?

Pattaya Amphur stopped accepting farang wills.

I did mine myself and keep a copy in my home country. I've video recording of myself reading it out loud too and executor has copies.

But after trying to find out more answers to relevant questions from government offices and getting silly responses I lost faith in the system so my plan is to transfer all my money and assets back home when i start to become frail .

If i die early then atleast there will be something for my partner to work with by using the simple will i wrote here. I can only hope banks, lawyers, court room and other offices do the legal and right things.

My khet office in BKK also stopped accepting such wills by farangs, unless I was listed on my wife's tabien bahn, which I am not since we rent in BKK and her house book is from her home province.

Originally when we inquired some years back, the wills officer at my local BKK khet said OK, no problem. But when we went back to actually do it a year or two later, the wills officer had changed and so apparently had their rules.

As with bank account stuff, it's entirely possible that the policy and rules on this issue vary widely from amphur to amphur. So probably best to check with the one you'd be going to, and find out what they will and won't accept.

I rent my property and it only has personal stuff and furniture, TV etc. Money in the Bank would be around 800000 baht or less depending how near it was to my Visa renewal.

I think I was quoted around 5000 baht by a well known national company who trade under the former name of Thailand to make a Will out.

My problem could be naming an Executor ?

Why??  An executor can also be a beneficiary, or not, as desired.

Thanks I wasn’t aware the Beneficiary could be an Executor as well.

Pattaya (actually Bam Lamung Amphur) will still register the Will in their registration book, they just no longer store the Will in their vault

Requirements are that the Will be both in Thai and English, signed in front of two witnesses (the ladies at the Amphur will gladly be witnesses, just tip) a Medical Certificate, and a copy of your Passport face page.  They will assign a number in their registration book and give you a receipt with the number on it for you to keep with the original of the Last Will and Testament

Since I did it there when they still stored the Will I don't know if they place the registration number on the original Will but my guess is that they do to provide a paper trail

Good to know.  I will go back and try again.  Last time was a couple of years ago, but I'm betting it's who you see and which way the wind blows.
