how does GPS tracker connects with android phone

Featured Replies

Hope this is the right place for the post, if not, appreciate if the moderator move it to the correct one, thanks.

Maybe this topic has been covered in previous forums, unfortunately ccouoldn't find any specific detail information, thus decided to ask the forum wizards fro some supporting information. I have a very basic knowledge when it comes to GPS, tracking stuff, cameras and so forth, would like to add a GPS tracker to my mazda CX5 (it has NAV system not Android auto) but can't find anything about GPS tracker. Assuming the purchase of a tracker,

1- what is the best one and what are the difference prices and options to install, have android phone

2- once tracker installed how does it connect to the phone, does it needs a WiFi connection at all times or how does it work

3- does the tracker need a dedicated power line or does it operates with batteries

Thanks for the answers..... would be happy if the negative comments stay away from my post

Not exactly what you asked for but maybe you like this idea:

https://torque-bhp.com/

https://www.outilsobdfacile.com/location-plug-connector-obd/Mazda-cx-5

Then you can track where you are going and at the same time get lots of details from your car.

thks, it could work

It does work!

You need something like this:

https://www.banggood.com/HHOBD-ELM327-Car-Bluetooth-OBD2-Auto-CAN-BUS-Scanner-Tool-Android-p-913030.html

It's used to connect your car electronic via Bluetooth with your phone.

And then you need something like the Torque App.

I use it on my motorcycle and it works perfectly fine.

Here is a sample. It's up to you if you see only lines or speed, etc.

Is there not somethig in Google Maps which tracks where your mobile phone goes, so if it is in your car....done. Or some DashCam thingies have it built in also, speeds, locations etc.

Don't have dash cam, only NaV that comes with the car and not up to date, updates were to be free but they want me to pay, thus a question of MY principles, will not pay what was promised as to be free. Couldn't not find the option on google maps neither, but already find my way around it and installed a tracker in the car, simple as not that expensive and it's working

With the Torque App you can do something like this (obviously also with a car):
